Abstract:
Pulmonary sepsis is a comprehensive inflammatory response triggered by lung infection. Pathogens disrupt the alveolar capillary barrier of the host, leading to a large influx of inflammatory mediators into the bloodstream. The condition is often severe with a high mortality rate. Xuanbi Xuanfuhua Decoction (XBXFHD) possesses effects such as lowering qi to resolve phlegm, promoting water metabolism to stop vomiting, and activating blood circulation to dissipate blood stasis. However, whether it can improve symptoms in patients with pulmonary sepsis remains to be further explored. This study investigated the intervention of XBXFHD in a rat model of pulmonary sepsis by observing pathological changes in lung tissues, the expression levels of PANoptosis-related proteins in lung tissue cells, CD4+ T cell subsets, and the impact on inflammatory mediators in rats. The results showed that XBXFHD could inhibit the expression of serum inflammatory cytokines induced by LPS in rats with pulmonary sepsis, upregulate the expression of anti-inflammatory cytokines, significantly reduce inflammatory cell infiltration and damage in lung tissues, reduce the expression of PANoptosis-related proteins., maintain the Th17/Treg balance, and exert a marked alleviating effect on the inflammatory response.
