Abstract:
Tuberculosis is increasingly becoming a major health problem worldwide, with approximately 1.8 million people dying annually from the disease. The emergence of drug resistant strains and HIV/TB co-infection has been the major challenge to the treatment of tuberculosis. Thus,it is urgent to develop new potential anti-tuberculosis (anti-TB) drugs.Given the present situation, researchers increasingly focused on the R&D of anti-TB drugs and discovered many active candidates with good potential, some of which have entered clinical trials. This review summarized the structures, mechanism of action,structure-activity relationships, activity and clinical applications of several new class of anti-TB drugs.
