STUDIES ON THE IDENTIFICATION OF THE CHINESE DRUGS WUJIAPI

This paper deals with the macro-, microscopic, physical and chemical iden-tification of 9 species of Wujiapi and Hongmao- Wujiapi namely Acanthopanaxgracilistylus, A. trifoliatus, A. sessiliflorus, A. senticosus, A. setchuenensis, A.leucorrhizus var. fulvescens, A. divaricatus, A. giraldii, A. giraldii var. hispidus.Kaurenoic acid and syringin from commerical root bark of A. gracilistylus of Hubei are isolated and identified. The syringin content of 6 species of wujiapi and Hongmao wujiapi is determined by dual wavelength TLC scanner method. This paper also describes their histological photographs and figures of powder and TLC.
