The assay of silybin has been successfully performed by UV spectrophotometry. The specific extinction coefficient (E 1%_1cm 288nm) has been measured to be 456.1 by using five different types of UV spectrophotometers. The results shows that the mean recovery is 99.88±0.48%, and the standard deviation is 0.58.
