Abstract
Berberine hydrochloride (I) alone or in tablets and ointments were detd. by oscillopolarog. titrn. a 20 ml soln. (-40 mg I) was mixed with 2M HOAc-NaAc buffer (pH 4.3, 10 ml) and 0.03 M Na-tetraphenylborate (10 ml) and distd. H_2O to a final vol. of 50 ml. After filtration, 25 ml of the filtrate was adjusted to alk. with 40% NaOH and subjected to titrn. with a std. T1_2SO_4 soln. for the detn. of I. The recovery of materials was 99.89±0.29%, the recovery in tablets was 99.46±0.32%. The compound in ointment 1g (-10 mg I) was dissolved in cyclohexane (10 ml) and extracted with water (15 ml*4, 10 ml). The recovery in ointment was 100.5±0.52%. This method was found to bc sensitive with concn. range of 10—40 mg/40 ml. The sugercoat, additives and excipients did not interfere with the determination.
