Investigation of the Polymorphism of Cefuroxime Axetil

The polymorphs α and β of cefurox ime ax etil were prepared from different organic solvents and characterized by means of DSC、IR and X-ray powder diffraction. Equilibrium solubilities were measured at five different temperatures in 0. 07 mol /L HCl solution and the enthalpies were calculated. The solubilities of crystal form α at fiv e different tempertures in 0. 07 mo l /L HCl solution were greater than those of crystal form β. The enthalpies of crystal form α and β were 9. 64 kJ/mol and 12. 04 k J/mol, respectively.
