Advances in new anti-tuberculosis targets and related drugs

Tuberculosis (TB) is a major global health threat which is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis.The emergence of multidrug resistant (MDR) and extremely drug-resistant (XDR) TB poses a vital challenge to the control of this disease,and thus there is an urgent need for new drugs with novel targets.This review describes advances in new targets of anti-tuberculosis which are involved in the essential growth processes,mechanisms of pathogenic resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.The development of related drugs for those targets is also summerized.
