  • From the Chinese drug "Gui Jian Yu"-the twigs with fignified wings of winged euonymus euonymus[Euonymus alatus (Thunb.)Sieb.] two steriodal constituents have been isolated. One of them is △~4β-sitcsterone(3). The comparison of TLC, IR and UV spectral data proves that △~4β-sitcsterone(3) is identical with the synthetic product obtained by Oppenauer oxidation of β-sitosterol.Another constituents is shown to be identical with β-sitosterol by its TLC and IR spectra. The above two constituents have been isolated from this drug for the first time.
