  • A three-dimensional sprouting model was established to investigate the effect of drugs on tumor angiogenesis.Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were cultivated by hanging suspended drop method to form dense cell clumps.To create three-dimensional culture conditions,the cell clumps were seeded into different matrixes:Matrigel,rat tail collagen or fibrin gels.The results showed that HUVECs formed a clear mutual-connected capillary-like luminal structure in fibrin gels,suggesting this model was successful and might be an effective in vitro method for observation of luminal formation.
